Spa Classic Weekend

May 22, 2025

Indulge your senses in the thrilling world of motorsport and the enchanting charm of the Ardennes in Belgium on our Spa Classic Tour. Immerse yourself in the heart-pounding excitement of historic racing at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit, where vintage cars gracefully navigate the legendary track. Witness the fusion of adrenaline and nostalgia as classic race cars roar to life, creating an atmosphere that resonates with the golden age of motorsport.

Our tour has a precursor to the main event, as we depart the UK on Thursday morning (not too early) from Calais to Spa, via a fascinating and largely unknown car collection. From there we will drive into the centre of Mons, where we have an overnight at a former convent. We have dinner organised in a local restaurant who serve the towns local delicacy.

At the Spa circuit we have arranged parking in the paddock (for eligible cars), grandstand and paddock pass race tickets, as well as the option to take your car on parade laps. We have secured accommodation in the heart of Spa, where we have underground car parking. The hotel has a bar, restaurant and is directly linked by funicular to the famous natural spa sitting above the town of Spa.

On Sunday at the circuit we have arranged lunch in the drivers club, overlooking the Eau Rouge circuit. There is the option to take your car on track (helmets mandatory) on Saturday too, let us know asap as these parade laps sell out.

Itinerary

Day 1:  To Calais

150 Miles

We depart the UK from Dover on a morning ferry crossing to Calais. We drive the more interesting main road option via Lille, which leads us to a fascinating car collection near Mons, where coffee is arranged. From here we drive onto our hotel located in Malmedy. This town is just 15 minutes’ drive to the circuit and has many bars and restaurants on its doorstep. A welcome dinner at the hotel is included this evening.

Day 2:  Paddock Parking & Parade Laps

45 Miles

After breakfast we take the short drive into the circuit where we have arranged privileged parking for your cars. You will be parked in the paddock, so access to the race cars paddocks is a short walk away. Today there is the option to participate in the parade laps of the circuit, which gives you a 25-minute exploratory session to enjoy one of the world’s greatest drivers’ circuit. Having allowed the adrenaline to reduce we will then head to the drivers’ club for lunch. The afternoon is then yours to enjoy the action on track. For those that are keen, the racing goes on into the night, for added atmosphere.

Day 3:  Spa Classic

90 Miles

Check out of the hotel in Malmedy this morning and return to the circuit to catch more of the action. After lunch we head out into the Ardennes countryside via a special Belgian chocolate producer, followed by a stop in the pretty town of Durbuy. There is time for some afternoon refreshments before heading on to our second hotel near Dinant. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.

Day 4:  Touring Wallonia

90 Miles

Today we head south onto some fabulous sweeping roads passing some famous World War II sites on the way down to the pretty town of Bouillon, close to the French border. This charming town is a great spot for lunch or a hike up to the castle. Our route takes us back up to Dinant (home of the saxophone) with time for a stop to explore the Citadelle and the Leffe museum. Dinner is included back at the hotel this evening.

Day 5:  Battlefields & Belgian Beers

90 Miles

We have two contrasting visits planned in today. The first is a fascinating World War II site where we shall learn the history of this location, before there is time for a coffee. Then head to Chimay, home of one of Belgium’s most famous Trappist beers. Chimay is also home to a road circuit, of which we will trace a lap. There is time for lunch here before the drive up to our final hotel of the tour, in the city of Mons. Enjoy the Grand Place, museums and Cathedrals before our final dinner of the tour.

Day 6:  Depart for Home

100 Miles

After a relaxed breakfast head back to Calais for a ferry crossing at the time of your choice.

Where we'll stay

Our hotel is located in the heart of Spa and directly linked to the ‘thermes de Spa’ by a funicular. The rooms are beautifully appointed and there is a welcoming bar with adjoining restaurant.
