A tour of western Scotland for members of the RREC Silver Ghost Register.
Arrive at hotel in Dumfries-shire. There will be welcome drinks with an introductory talk and a chance to mix and mingle at 5pm followed by dinner at 7pm.
After breakfast in the hotel set off for the Turnberry Hotel for a light lunch. The cars will all be parked in the roundel area at the front door.
After lunch, set off for Troon, and park up at the Marine Hotel for an overnight stay.
There will be a BBQ dinner at the home of one of the Silver Ghost Register members from 7pm, just a stone’s throw from the hotel.
It’s an early breakfast (6.30am) to then depart from Troon on the 8.30am Calmac ferry to the Isle of Arran. Arrive in Brodick at 9.40am and follow the full coast road in a clockwise direction to Lagg in the south of the island with a short stopover at the Lagg Distillery. Proceed to Lochranza in the north to visit the Arran Distillery, where we shall also have lunch.
Then take the Calmac ferry from Lochranza on Arran to Clonaig (50 minutes) on the Mull of Kintyre where we drive north to Tarbert for dinner and overnight stop at the Stonefield Castle Hotel.
Drive north to Inverary Castle where we shall be met by 13th Duke of Argyll, Torquil Campbell, with a tour of the castle followed lunch in the dungeon. Departing after lunch north to Oban (38 miles) with an optional visit to the Oban Distillery late afternoon which is in the town itself. Dinner and overnight stay at the Muthu Alexandra Hotel in Oban.
After breakfast head north to Mallaig for a light lunch then catch the Calmac ferry from Mallaig to Armadale (30 minutes) on the south of the Isle of Skye.
Drive across the southern part of Skye with an option to visit one of the many distilleries (Talisker at Carbost for example) on the island if time permits and/or a road trip right round the island taking in Dunvegan and Portree.
Take the ferry to Raasay where we shall stay overnight
Depart for Dalwhinnie Distillery via the Skye Road Bridge, with a lunch on the way at Invergary.
Continue to the Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry for dinner and overnight stay.
It’s a short drive to Perth and a private visit to Scone Palace, the crowning place for the Kings of Scotland. Continue on to St Andrews on the east coast for dinner and overnight stay at the Old Course Hotel.
Enjoy a small walk round St Andrews before departing for Edinburgh. There will be a rendezvous to display the cars in the city and for a light lunch.
It’s a short drive to our overnight accommodation on board the disused lightship, The Fingal with the cars parked in a secure parking area overnight.
Our final fabulous dinner will be on board the Royal Yacht Britannia which is walking distance from the Fingal.
After breakfast on board Fingal it’s time to depart for home.
A variety of beautiful, quality hotels have been booked for the tour. All have suitable parking for Silver Ghosts.
The tour is open to all owners of Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts, and other pre-war Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars.
