Exmoor Canine Car Tour

Quite a few Classic Travellers have dogs in the family and we occasionally have dogs on tours. Being dog owners ourselves, we have decided it’s time to create a Canine Car Tour! So new for 2025 is the first, of hopefully many, Dog Drives with our motoring mutts.

Our first Canine Car Tour will be to the lovely region of Exmoor in South-West England, where we have exclusive use of a sea front hotel, backing on to Exmoor – so absolutely perfect for walks, adventures, new sniffs, and some beautiful driving.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Exmoor

Arrive at the hotel in time for a walk on the beach, followed by supper for the dogs.

Once they have settled, we shall have welcome drinks and dinner for the human participants.

Day 2: Valley of the Rocks

48 Miles

A lovely scenic drive along the coast to Lynmouth and through the Valley of the Rocks to Heddon Valley.

Day 3: Dunster & Dunkery Beacon

52 Miles

Visit the pretty village of Dunster and its eponymous castle before climbing up Dunkery Beacon for the far-reaching views across Exmoor in every direction.

Enjoy a fabulous walk to Tarr Steps near Dulverton before returning to the hotel over the back roads across Exmoor.

Day 4: Exmoor

64 Miles

A longer drive encircling Exmoor, finishing on the coast at Watchet before departing for home.

A stunning dog-friendly hotel situated in a picturesque coastal village on the edge of the Exmoor National Park in Somerset, which sits majestically beneath the steep hanging woods overlooking a tidal harbour, with its pebbled beach and invigorating sea and salt marshes. The South West Coastal Path is on its doorstep, and Exmoor offers many great dog walks.

Well behaved dogs are very much welcomed and are treated to a comfy bed and a dog towel should they get muddy. With a ton of great walks on the door step they too can enjoy your holiday.

Requirements

Please keep dogs off the beds and use the dog towels provided when you return wet and muddy!
Please check with your travel and motor insurers that you are covered for travel.
You are advised to carry a warning triangle, first-aid kit, two fluorescent jackets, set of replacement bulbs.
