Alsace, Jura & the Vosges

Join our three-centre driving tour that will take you to the heart of the Vosges, Alsace and Jura departments of France. The tour will start in Alsace, exploring its charming towns, picturesque countryside, and world-famous Wine Route. Savor renowned white wines like Riesling and Gewürztraminer. Discover Strasbourg’s iconic cathedral and Petite France, or wander Colmar’s cobbled streets. The route then takes you in to Jura where we dive into the many products its famous for cheese, clocks, wooden toys and yellow wine. The tour will finish in the Vosges where we drive the twisting col’s and visit the fabulous lakes.

We have selected three superb hotels located in the very best areas of these regions, each for a two-night stay with dinner in their acclaimed restaurants.

Itinerary

Day 1:  Alsace

Today’s route mixes main roads and scenic byways crossing the Sommes battlefields and into Alsace. Your hotel for the next two nights in a four star Chateu and Spa, boasting three separate swimming pools, both in door and out. There are multiple steam rooms and Hammams, so relaxation is guaranteed here. The hotels restaurant offers modern cuisine and we are perfectly placed to tour the best of the Alsace.

Day 2:  Vineyards & Colmar

Today’s drive out takes you through the local vineyards to the town of Colmar, with time to look around and have lunch. The afternoon route takes you back alongside the Rhine River back up towards Strasbourg. There is the option to visit Strasbourg for those that wish, otherwise you can return to the hotel for time to relax. Dinner this evening is in the hotel’s restaurant, with Alsatian wines included.

Day 3:  Into Jura via Schlumpf collection

Today the route takes you via Mulhouse where a stop is planned to the famed Schlumpf collection no known as the Cite de l’Automobile. This is a stunning museum and well worth a visit. The museum has a restaurant for lunch after your visit. The route takes you on into the Jura and the Domaine de Revermont, your hotel for two nights. A Relais du Silence located amongst the vineyards. There is an outdoor pool and plenty of outdoor space to explore.

Day 4:  Salins les Bains and yellow wine

Today we explore the stunning Jura region, with a visit to the ‘Salins les Bains’ a Unesco World Heritage site showcasing 100 years of salt production. It is then onto a wine producer to see how the famous yellow wine is made, with a light lunch lade on at the winery. You can continue to explore the scenery via Chateau-Chalon that overlooks much of the surrounding area, before returning to the hotel for dinner that evening.

Day 5:  Vosges cols

Onto the part three of the tour – The Vosges. The area is surrounded by mini ‘cols’ making for superb driving and scenery. We stay in the centre of Gerardmer at a famous spot for rally groups. The hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool as well as spa facilities. There are multiple restaurants and bars to explore during our two night stay.

 

Day 6:  Gerardmer

Today we drive via the Lac de Gerardmer and onto St Die des Vosges for some great driving. The route will take us via the recently closed ski resorts of the area. The region is famous for the wood and production of it, so we have an interesting visit lined up for you here. We round of the day and the final night of the tour with a superb dinner with accompanying wines.

Day 7:  Tour finishes

After breakfast you can make your way as you please for your chosen Eurotunnel crossing, or alternatively talk to us about extending your stay.

Requirements

  • All passports must be valid for six months after the end of the tour. You will also need your vehicle registration documents, driving licence (a photo-card licence or international permit is best), and international insurance cover.
  • Please check with your travel and motor insurers that you are covered for travel in the required countries.
  • You are also required to carry a warning triangle, first-aid kit, two fluorescent jackets, set of replacement bulbs and a national identification sticker.
  • Each person must have a passport (and any necessary visas for non-EU passport holders) valid for France & Belgium.
