The Ennstal-Classic is one of Europe’s leading historic motoring events, set against the spectacular backdrop of the Austrian Alps. Featuring an outstanding collection of classic cars, it combines scenic driving routes, mountain passes and a relaxed, sociable atmosphere. The rally is based on precision and timing rather than speed, making it an enjoyable challenge for those who wish to take part.

Itinerary

Day 1: Friday 16th July – UK to Laon

Depart the UK via Eurotunnel and begin your journey into France. Enjoy an easy and relaxed first day’s drive through the French countryside, arriving in the historic town of Laon. Settle into your hotel and join the group for a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Saturday 17th July – Into the Alsace

Continue east through rolling countryside towards the Alsace region, known for its charming villages and vineyards. Enjoy a scenic drive along quiet roads smooth D-roads through quaint ski villages before arriving at your hotel, perfectly located to explore this beautiful area.

Day 3: Sunday 18th July – Alsace to Lake Constance

Today’s route takes you across the Rhine and into Germany, with increasingly engaging driving roads as you head towards the shores of Lake Constance. Skirting the edge of the Black Forest, enjoy a rewarding day’s drive before arriving at your lakeside hotel.

Day 4: Monday 19th July – Lake Constance to Mayrhofen

Leave Lake Constance behind and head into the Alps, where the scenery becomes more dramatic and the roads more exhilarating. Crossing into Austria, enjoy a superb day’s driving through mountain landscapes before arriving in the elegant Alpine town of Mayrhofen.

Day 5: Tuesday 20th July – Mayrhofen to Gröbming

A final and memorable drive through the Austrian Alps brings you to Gröbming, home of the Ennstal-Classic. Arrive in time to settle in and prepare for the event, having enjoyed a wonderful journey across Europe’s finest driving regions.

Day 6: Wednesday 21st July – The Event Begins

Arriving in Gröbming, the town comes alive with an exceptional gathering of historic cars and a lively pre-event atmosphere. Guests can explore the paddock and soak up the anticipation ahead of the rally. In the evening, the Ennstal-Classic officially begins with a relaxed welcome reception with the Austrian Alps as the backdrop at Schloss Pichlarn —an elegant start to the days ahead.

Day 7: Thursday 22nd July - First Rally Day

The rally begins with a spectacular route through the Austrian Alps, covering around 380–400 km of scenic roads and mountain passes. Competitors take on timing sections and challenges, while touring guests enjoy the same carefully designed route at a more relaxed pace. Highlights include laps of the Red Bull Ring and a memorable drive over the Sölkpass, before a warm welcome in Schladming.

Day 8: Friday 23rd July – Alpine Stages

A full and rewarding day of driving, covering approximately 400–450 km through varied landscapes and engaging roads. For competitors, it is the most demanding day of the rally, while touring guests enjoy an exceptional Alpine drive. The route returns to Gröbming in the evening, where participants gather to relax and share the day’s experiences.

Day 9: Saturday 24th July - The Finale in Gröbming

Saturday brings one of the highlights of the event, with the ascent of the Stoderzinken offering spectacular views and a memorable drive. The finale takes place in Gröbming, where cars are showcased in front of enthusiastic crowds before the closing celebrations. The Night of the Champions provides a fitting end, bringing everyone together to celebrate an unforgettable experience.

Day 10: Sunday 25th July - Departure

A relaxed start to the day after a fantastic and enjoyable weekend rounds off the Ennstal-Classic for 2027. We have recommended routes home or why not follow the Classic Travelling Tour Directors on a surprise route home!

Requirements

Eligibility
For the Ennstal-Classic Rally, participation is limited to historically significant vehicles, typically manufactured prior to 1972. In keeping with the spirit of the event, only purely mechanical stopwatches and distance measuring devices are permitted.
For the Ennstal-Classic Tour, participation is designed for classic and sports cars built before 1995, with exceptional modern supercars and hypercars considered on request.
For the UK to Austria Driving Tour, there are no entry vehicle restrictions.
