This is the essence of safari: Victoria Falls, the Big Five, the mighty Zambezi River, classic safari tents, premier lodges, sunset gin & tonics, and unforgettable game viewing both on land and along the river.

Botswana is one of Africa’s most inspiring destinations, celebrated for its strong commitment to conservation and low-impact tourism. Its landscapes range from the vast Kalahari Desert to the shimmering waterways of the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its pristine wilderness and remarkable wildlife.

Home to iconic reserves such as Chobe and Moremi, Botswana offers exceptional game viewing, including elephants, big cats, and an extraordinary diversity of birdlife. The country’s sustainable tourism model helps protect these habitats while supporting local communities.

Botswana’s cultural heritage is equally rich, shaped by diverse ethnic groups including the Tswana people. Traditional music, dance, and art remain central to community life, with festivals and celebrations offering visitors a warm and authentic connection to the country’s vibrant spirit.

Safaris in Botswana command a higher price point — and with good reason, not least the remoteness of many of the camps. The country is committed to a low-impact, high-value conservation model, intentionally limiting visitor numbers to safeguard its delicate ecosystems while offering travellers rare exclusivity and uninterrupted wilderness. You will find the investment worthwhile for the privacy, exceptional guiding and the knowledge that your stay directly supports conservation initiatives and local communities.

The tour will start at Kasane, Botswana, and you can fly home from either Kasane or Maun, Botswana. The provisional dates are 1-13 November 2027

The Route & Itinerary

Saturday 20th November

Chobe National Park

Arrive at Kasane Airport and collect your hire 4×4.

Drive to Chobe Game Lodge for a three-night stay in the Chobe National Park, a great patchwork of deep, dense forest, sprawling wetlands and zebra-grazed grasslands.

Located on the banks of the stunning Chobe River, the lodge is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and abundant wildlife. The lodge provides luxurious accommodation and exceptional service, ensuring a comfortable and memorable stay for guests.

The woodlands of Chobe National Park provide the perfect setting for extraordinary safari excursions. A sunrise game drive catches the animals at their most-active time of day while a Chobe River safari cruise ushers you into the realm of crocodiles, hippos and the elephants that come down to drink and play in the water. The park’s beautiful wetlands also lure a wealth of birdlife to the region, and you may glimpse many of the 460 species.

Victoria Falls

A full day excursion to Victoria Falls, one of the world’s great natural wonders.

Drive into Zimbabwe’s rolling highveld for an unforgettable exploration of Victoria Falls. Here, the Zambezi plunges more than 350 feet into the gorge below, sending up the billowing mist that inspired its original name, Mosi oa Tunya — The Smoke That Thunders.

The sheer power and beauty of the falls will leave you speechless. You can feel the mist on your face as you walk along the trails, taking in the panoramic views from various viewpoints. The lush greenery surrounding the falls adds to the natural beauty of the area. It’s a place where you can truly appreciate the wonders of nature and feel a sense of awe and reverence.

Tuesday 30th November

Xugana Island

Transfer by air to Xugana Island, also in the Okavango Delta.

The land becomes a maze of water, islands, and channels. Elephants come in their hundreds. Buffalo, too. Antelope scatter through the shallows like quicksilver, and lions follow the paths they make, on the hunt. A fish eagle cries, sharp and high. Storks march through the water on legs as long as reeds.

In the heart of this ecological wonder, water finds a place to rest in the Xugana Lagoon. This is widely regarded as the most beautiful of all the permanent water sites in the Okavango Delta, and Xugana Island Lodge is your stunning springboard to experience it.

Water Wonderland

Take the motorboat through the channels, the morning air cool on your face. This is an entirely different perspective of the wilderness, seen from its shimmering heart. Stillness meets quiet thrill. Waterways lead to lagoons awake with life. Channels weave like liquid pathways through a maze of papyrus, and you have the chance to see the elephants and hippos that carved them.

Drift in a mokoro (traditional dugout canoe), the pole cutting clean lines through the water. Reeds whisper as you drift past, dragonflies hover like suspended light, and the air is alive with the quiet chorus of frogs and birds. From this eye-level vantage point, every detail becomes sharper—the curve of a water lily, the flicker of a tiny reed frog. It’s a journey that invites you to exhale, listen, and simply be.
