Itinerary
Day One
Visit Sudbury Hall and the National Trust’s Museum of Childhood. Leave Ashbourne and drive to Matlock Bath and the old mills. Then head north to visit the stunning Chatsworth House. Then drive north to Eyam, site of first case of the Black Death outside London.
Travel north through little villages to Hathersage and Castleton and visit the caverns, home of Blur John semi-precious stones. Stay overnight in a beautiful hotel for the Select Tour or nearby in a lovely hall for the Classic Tour.
Day Two
Visit the town of Bakewell and sample some of the eponymous pudding. After visiting Haddon Hall, retrace your route to Ashford-in-the-Water. The town is famous for ‘well dressing’ at the end of May and beginning of June and examples can also be seen in many of the villages, where floral and natural pictures and images are dressed around the water sources.
Drive to Buxton, also known as ‘Bath of the north’, then down to Aligreave and back to Ashbourne via Warslow.
There is an optional stay in Ashbourne to start or end the tour.
