This tour starts and finishes in the Lake District at Penrith. Take one of the world’s most scenic drives through Cumbria and Northumberland and cross, via the Cheviot Hills, into Scotland and Edinburgh.

Select Accommodation: Select tours use high-quality, small, individual hotels and guesthouses. The focus is on service and comfort in beautiful surroundings.
Itinerary
Day One
From Penrith it is a beautiful drive to Alston and Hexham and onto the pretty town of Corbridge. Head north to Chollerford and Bellingham and onto Otterburn for an overnight stay in a comfortable hotel.
Day Two
Follow the road to Rothbury and Alnwick. Visit Alnwick Castle and then drive north to Bamburgh Castle and then across the causeway to Holy Island (Lindisfarne). Cross into Scotland at Coldstream where you will stay overnight at a guesthoue for the Classic Tour or in Cornhill-on-Tweed at a country house hotel for the Select Tour.
Day Three
Take the A697 to Edinburgh and explore Scotland’s capital, staying overnight just south of the city in a wonderful castle for the Select Tour or a beautiful mansion for the Classic Tour.
Day Four
Leave Edinburgh and travel south to Jedburgh and see the wonderful abbey ruins. Stay overnight in a nearby village. The Classic Tour accommodation offers a charming retreat with views across the Teviot Valley. The Select accommodation is in one of Scotland’s finest country house hotels.
Day Five
Head back into England and drive alongside Kielder Water and onto Carlisle and Penrith.

This price is based on two people sharing a twin or double room. Requests for single room accommodation will be extra. Please ask for the supplementary price at the time of booking.
Some establishments do offer dinner and this option, along with restaurant bookings, is available up to a week before departure.
